Elegant Wedding on the Inlet

The Brown-Boy married the Howard-Girl in this family-oriented, classic and elegant wedding in Murrells Inlet.

Both sides of this family are super sweet people and welcomed us like family. The bride and groom choose a private residence facing Murrells Inlet to say their vows and even with large wind gusts, the beauty of the day was unparalleled.

Our bride, Annah, is the cousin of one my former brides and that’s how she became acquainted with my work. When we were going over details of her upcoming wedding day, I realized that I knew part of their guest list. Matter of fact, there were quite a few familiar faces I enjoyed reconnecting with! That’s the real beauty of having an established business, building relationships and getting great referrals from past clients who trust and love your work.

One of the most notable parts of the wedding day were the children. It is truly amazing to witness how the children were incorporated into the wedding day, this family was close! in fact their entire “Bridal Party” was made up of siblings and their kids. The girls were adorable in their flower crowns and the boys looked sharp in their tailored tan suites. These tender touches stayed in the atmosphere all night from the first dance through to the sparkler exit.

Annah and Joseph epitomize southern elegance and charm. One of the memorable moments of the wedding day was when Annah walked down the aisle. Joseph’s reaction took me by surprise. His emotions at seeing his bride was nothing short of tear-jerking. I saw them after their honeymoon (at the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman, Seven Mile Beach – Yes this is important info!) and my assistant asked how they liked being newly weds? Annah just looked up at Joseph and her eyes said it all. We all laughed and joked. I know that they both are still in a blessed state of bliss that only true love brings. Congratulations to my awesome love-birds, and until next time!

Bridesmaids Dresses Sparkle at 21 Main at North Beach

Look at those bridesmaids dresses! I love them! Nothing better for a wedding day than a little sparkle to go with the bling at North Beach Plantation.

I’ve known Lisa’s parents for a while now. They’ve always encouraged and supported my fine art and philanthropic work in the community, so I was thrilled to document the marriage of their eldest daughter (and to have just been booked to shoot the youngest daughter’s wedding next year).

Lisa and Ryan are a true class act, their wedding was a great blend of friends hanging out, family involvement and dance floor shenanigans. Even the bridal party introductions, with DJ Ryan Robinson from GlobalTruth Entertainment, became a break dance contest and these bridesmaids and groomsmen really knew how to get down. One thing that really stood out was how Ryan was crazy about Lisa. His best-man even told how Ryan began ‘designing’ himself around the husband he intended to be. During ‘toast time’ we also learned how comical Lisa and her sister are and got a feel for how much teasing goes on between the two girls. Oh, their poor brother, he must have grow up being double teamed.

And hey, the only way to end the night was to have a Red Viper as the get away car. I know Lisa smiled as Ryan handled the beauty like a pro (without striping the gears), after all, he’d drove a manual for the first time only 3 days before.

We wish Lisa and Ryan many happy years to come and hope their friends and family keep the laughing.

Wedding Carriage Ride

Someone’s favorite Disney movie must have been Cinderella, and why not? Cinderella and her prince got the wedding carriage ride, so our Myrtle Beach couple did too!

Kerri and Jeffery are a fun couple. I couldn’t have thought of any better way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Everything about this wedding was magical, from jumping the broom to the sparkler exit. Adding the harpist for the ceremony created so much ambiance to the wedding too. The large group shot with the horse and carriage, was one of the most hilarious parts of the day. Not wanting to startle the little pony, I asked everyone to quietly  hip-hip-hooray and put their hands in the air. The entire group did just exactly that! It was awesome!

After the couple’s wedding carriage ride, we ventured upstairs to a stunning reception room. Corina Silva did a stunning job with the design of the ceremony and receptions atmosphere. It was filled with tasteful decor, lovely personal touches, and bold colors. Who could forget the dance off?! Jeffery was so laid back and entertaining and Kerri’s choices proved to be top notch in all respects, even after the wedding.

It’s becoming more rare to receive thank-you notes. I was pleasantly surprised to open my mail box and find envelopes for me and my assistant. Every thoughtful and purposeful action of their wedding was a reflection of who the couple were as people. I whole-heartedly enjoyed our letters. I have deep gratitude and fond memories of Kerri and Jeff, and look forward to keeping in touch with the bride and groom. Last but not least, yes, they are living happily every after!

Wedding Details

The most important of the wedding details is love.

“Love is overcoming obstacles, facing challenges…” I’ve read the quotes plenty of times, I think all couples do. When was the last time you sat and consciously appreciated love by itself? When it comes to a wedding, it is so easy to get consumed in all the wedding details. In the hype of all the planning and decorating, how do you make love stand out more than everything else?

Lisa and Will, a lovely couple, planned a destination wedding here in Myrtle Beach. Lisa perfected the day and Will brought the humor.  While we were shooting, I kept thinking that this is a strong woman and a strong couple and yet so easy going. It was hard not to relax into this family. So what was the difference, right?

One of Lisa’s wedding details was a golden broach with turquoise and white stones. I remember carefully laying it down and positioning it in macro shots and taking great care of giving it back to her. It was Will’s grandmother’s,  and she wouldn’t be attending. I imagine it tenderly touched the groom’s heart when he saw the broach on his bride’s bouquet. It is little acts of thoughtfulness like this that speaks volumes in quite corners and years to come.

It also reminded me how it isn’t the struggles that end up defining us, but the commitment to overcoming the struggles together. How many times do we realize these truths unless they’re staring us in the face? It’s, “fighting to be together, holding on and never letting go.” I believe to speak anything of Lisa and Will’s wedding is to say that they do this, they love in the kindest of ways, and I believe they will have many joyous years dancing to, “I’m Yours.”

Before the day was over, my couple reminded me of one other very important detail….Have every bit of fun along the way.

Wedding Best, Trash the Dress

This is how to include your hubby in a raunchy ‘Trash the Dress’ shoot – Rin and Jeffry style!

As soon as the Bride showed up, I knew that this couple was going to be wild and fun. We first met for coffee and immediately threw out just about all the traditions, no minister (just a notary friend),  no DJ (ipod rooftop in Garden City), no Isle to walk down (both guys and gals had there own side to enter from), hand written vows, barefoot (toes touching the water), no engagement shoot, no bridal, private first look at Huntington State Park. Of all these things, that I loved about this unique beach wedding, it was the idea of a trash the dress shoot the day after the wedding with our intimate couple that really enticed me to work with this couple.

Bride “Let’s walk down the beach far enough to be private and end up soaked”

Me (inner monologue “hell to the yeah”) “Totally cool, I just need the camera to stay dry”

Here are some sneak peaks of these two love birds as they roll, splash and chase!
